Infrared Training Center

Hello! My name is Troy Donoghue and I am the owner and operator of Liberty Home Inspections, LLC. I am originally from California, however, I grew up spending almost every summer camping in Colorado and Utah with my family. My love for the great outdoors is what brought me to Colorado and I am now loving my life making this great state my home.

I started Liberty Home Inspections in 2014 after 14 year working in the field and corporate side of the maintenance/remodeling world. In 2014, I graduate from the ASHI School of Home Inspections. I’m a verified inspector of ASHI (American Society for Home Inspectors), the benchmark for home inspector credentials in North America. ASHI holds its inspectors to 20 hours of continuing education every year therefore, I attend classes and lectures to keep myself informed on new construction techniques that I may encounter on the next inspection and provide my customers with the most current and detailed reports available.  In 2016, I completed my Residential Radon Measurement Provider training from Spruce Environmental Technologies and in 2017 became a Certified Mountain Area Specialist CMAS and a Authorized SewerScan Technician from United Infrared, Inc.

CMAS designation aims to promote a better understanding of the unique characteristics of properties located in mountains and rural areas. These properties have unique features when compared to properties in urban areas. These include aspects such as, domestic and household wells, individual wastewater treatment systems, fire mitigation concerns and easement issues, and many others.

In 2018 I became a Level 1 Certified Infrared Thermographer. Having energy efficient properties will be the norm in the near future and Infrared Thermographers will be called upon to perform energy surveys and audits. I believe having a energy efficient home is as important as mass transit or electric vehicles in reducing our carbon footprint.
My education outside of home inspecting includes a B.A. in Political Science from Humboldt State University where I also played football and rugby for the Lumberjacks as well as additional business management certifications from the University of California, San Diego. My past work experience includes fire mitigation, construction, custom home building, commercial and industrial maintenance/repair.

I’m also an active volunteer firefighter with North Fork Fire & Rescue where I continue to receive further education in residential structural design and the wildland/urban interface. Outside of work, I enjoy being active in the outdoors and spending time with my wife Karen, our daughter Liberty, and our two dogs Hamlet & Gummybear.
